About the role
We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a Product Engineering team in our Automation Domain in Berlin. The Automation Domain is responsible for building and owning Nelly’s SaaS and AI products - everything from onboarding new medical practices, the Doctor, Patient, and Back Office portals, to automating bureaucracy and practice workflows, and the AI Scribe, Billing Agent, and Treatment Plan generation products. The role You'll lead a fast moving AI enabled team that is building a new, but central, product. You’ll ensure the team is able to explore, experiment, and iterate quickly - testing new features and ideas internally and with our customers.

What you’ll do
- You'll lead a fast moving AI enabled team that is building a new, but central, product. You’ll ensure the team is able to explore, experiment, and iterate quickly - testing new features and ideas internally and with our customers.
- The product is new, giving you the opportunity to define the product with the team based on experimentation. The team needs to learn fast and be able to let go of ideas that don’t work. You’ll guide the team through this process, striving to improve how the team operates and enabling it to move faster.
- The team is growing quickly, giving you an opportunity and responsibility to hiring a high performing team and define how it operates.
- Lead, inspire and grow a high-performing team of 3–6 software and AI engineers.
- Collaborate closely with a product manager to iteratively build, launch, and improve new products
- Own hiring for your team, building a team of high performing engineers.
- Keep your team at the cutting edge of LLM and AI based engineering, testing new ideas and tech as it’s released
- Own the quality, reliability, and security of your team’s products. Delivering high availability production systems
- Stay hands on, developing with your team
- Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of Nelly’s engineering leadership team
What they’re looking for

- 1+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager and 8+ years of overall experience in software development
- A strong technical background, building customer facing products
- Experience working in the TypeScript or similar ecosystems and a drive to proactively learn both.
- Experience with cloud native development.
- Experience designing, building, and owning customer facing products and production back-end systems
- A deep understanding of software engineering processes and team management
- Empathy and excellent communication skills
